VLP week 11 (3/27/2026)

Hello everyone, this is now week 11 of my internship with UCF’s Veteran’s Legacy Program. I hope you all had a good spring break from last week, I did not have the most eventful spring break but nevertheless I was glad to be able to get a chance to relax. But now it appears that we are in the home stretch, with next week being the start of April. It means that there is only one last month before the end of the semester. Bearing that in mind I’m glad to have gotten a break as I know that with both classwork and the internship I expect it's going to be a busy month. Regarding my internship, this week has mainly served to lay out all that I can expect to work on for this last month so without further ado I shall tell you all what I will be working on.

First of all, I will give a brief update on the projects I have been working on already. Over the break I did some metadata on items scanned at the MMH and I will soon start going there again to do some more scanning. And as mentioned previously the VLP team has been given the go ahead to continue uploading bios to the VLM website so I will be continuing work on that.

Now, on to new things I will be working on. The first is myself and 2 other VLP members have volunteered to travel out to the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in order to get a reference picture of a headstone for a veteran we are working on for use for the headstone replica project. I’m looking forward to this as it will be my first experience at VLP doing work at a national cemetery and I am looking forward to telling you all about it afterwards.

The last thing I will discuss for this week is that I have volunteered to help other VLP members with a presentation that will be given to teachers at University High School. This presentation will show teachers how they can incorporate VLP resources into their lessons. I am excited for this for two reasons, the first is this is another chance to get some experience with giving presentations, and the second reason is I am a graduate of University High so it will be a nice opportunity to visit my old school, the presentation is scheduled for April 22nd, and I am excited to tell you all how it goes.

That’s all I have for this week, I hope you all have a good weekend and I’ll see you next week.
