VLP week 12 (4/3/2026).

Hello everyone, this is now week 12 of my internship with UCF’s Veterans Legacy Program. We are on the home strip folks, with it now being the start of April that means we have less than a month of this internship. I’ve said it numerous times in previous posts but it has been nothing short of astounding to me just how fast things the time has gone by with this semester. And with that it also means I will be very busy this last month because on top of everything with VLP I will also soon be hard at work on the final projects for the rest of my classes.

With all of this in mind I have very much been looking forward for summer when I get a chance to relax, and another thing I have to look forward too is while I haven’t talked about it because I feel it might have been out of scope for this blog, I have enjoyed my time with VLP so much that I have decided to stay and work with VLP over the summer. But enough about the future, here is what I have been up to this last week.

I don’t have nearly as much to talk about regarding this week's meeting as much of it involves things that will happen over the summer, so it’s outside the scope of this post. However, the main important thing to mention is the team has agreed on a rough deadline for VLM for the 22nd, so that is something I’ll be picking up the pace working on. The team is also still working on the workshop at University High School, and are looking for what I need to do to assist them.

In other news this week I once again went to the Museum of Military History in Kissimmee to do more scanning. It had been a while since I had last been there due to Spring Break as well as having other things to work on for VLP, so it was nice to have a chance to go back there. The items that I scanned were also pretty interesting, they were a series of letters between a soldier who served during WW2 and his family back home, I always like sources like these because one of the reasons I love history is to get an understanding of what life was like for people in the past and what they thought, and these letters have been great for giving a window to that.

That’s all I have for this week, I hope you all have a great weekend and I’ll see you next week.
