VLP week 13 (4/10/2026)

Hello everyone, this is now week 13 of my internship with UCF’s Veterans Legacy Program. We are nearing the end folks, at least in terms of this blog, after this week's post there will only be 2 more. I feel like a broken record for saying this again but I am absolutely astounded with how quickly this year has gone by. Despite it being so close to the end it doesn’t feel like it for me, although that’s probably because I’ll be working with VLP over the summer, so in terms of that the only thing that will change will be me doing this blog. But without further ado, here is what has happened at VLP over this last week.

As has been a trend over the past couple of weeks, much of what we have been doing at VLP has been in preparation for events over the summer. Again, I won’t talk about this much because I do not feel that it is within the scope of this blog, but one interesting thing I will bring up is one of the plans is for some VLP members to head over to San Francisco to do some oral histories and interviews, one of the members who was originally going to go is unable to go and I was offered to replace them, so that is pretty exciting.

But without getting further carried away, here is what I did this week. It had been a while but I started doing bios for VLM again. It took a minute for me to readjust as not only had it been quite a while since I had worked on VLM but another thing that complicated things a little was I had to add some new steps while creating the bios to ensure they will be accepted by the NCA. they mainly consist of adding alt text to images and covering images that contain personally identifiable information, I wouldn’t say it was difficult but it was just something I’ll have to get used to.

As for what else I did this week, as usual I went to the MMH to do scanning, nothing with this session particularly stood out for me but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The other thing is I have gotten some updates on the meeting at University High School, one of the VLM members had sent a draft for the powerpoint we’ll be presenting, and we’ll meet on Monday to discuss it further.

That’s all I have for this week, I hope you all have a good weekend and I’ll see you next week.
